Havanese prices can vary greatly depending on several factors, including the breeder, the color, markings, gender, age and lineage of the dog, and the area of the country in which you live. Rare colors like reds cost more than common colors. 

Havanese puppies for sale at prices around $1,000 to $1,800 are often sold by "puppy brokers" or "pet stores" who often purchase them from "HIGH VOLUME PUPPY MILLS" and amateur “backyard breeders.” 

Puppy brokers are individuals who purchase Havanese puppies from various sources/puppy mills around the country and resell them for a profit.

Puppy mills are large  high volume facilities who produce thousands of puppies each year and many are notorious for their inhumane treatment of animals.  If the seller has dozens or hundreds+ of puppies available, especially multiple designer mixed breeds...RUN AWAY!!!!  Havanese puppies from these sources are to be avoided at all cost.

Backyard breeders are individuals who breed and sell or resell Havanese puppies as a part-time way to generate additional income. They lack the experience, education and resources needed to provide a nurturing environment, and their puppies often have health issues caused by poor nutrition and careless breeding practices like close inbreeding (such as breeding a grandfather to a grandaughter...) They also tend to have more behavioral problems due to the lack of socialization. 

Look for a reputable full time breeder and trainer with decades of experience who raises their own puppies in their home and who has a 25+ year vet reference. 

The initial cost of your puppy divided over a typical 12 or 15 year lifespan is small compared to the annual food, supplies, grooming, and vet care costs.  

Havanese prices for puppies sold by reputable breeders can vary widely, typically from around $2900 – $4500 or sometimes more. Our reds are the rarest Havanese color and are $2900 and up. Unlike brokers and puppy mills, whose primary concern is profit, professional Havanese breeders are concerned about the betterment of the breed and placement in appropriate new family homes.
